2010-08-28

Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas clinched their second GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype championship together Saturday at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with their series-record eighth overall victory in a season.

Pruett drove the No. 01 TELMEX BMW/Riley to a 2.005-second advantage over Alex Gurney to score the win, the first for him and Rojas at the 2.709-mile track in Rolex Series competition. It also gave the pair their 17th victory together, adding to their record total.

In the GT class, Paul Edwards and Scott Russell gave Chevrolet its first victory since 2003 at Daytona International Speedway and led a podium sweep for the manufacturer in their No. 07 Airjax.com/Mobil 1 Corvette. Edwards passed Stevenson Motorsports teammates Robin Liddell and Ronnie Bremer on the same lap, going from third to first with under 15 minutes remaining.
